3rd day - Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum

Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum

Hello everybody!

Todayʼs blog is about one of the most famous and ancient places of Bukhara, Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum.

We visited there with our coursemates, as well as our teacher was with us 😇 During this trip we gained some new knowledge about its origin, importance of mausoleum, and so on. Now I'm going to share some of them.

In this video I told some beneficial information about this mausoleum.✨

So,  I will give information about it now.

Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum is located near the Samani Mausoleum, in Bukhara. It consists of the mausoleum and a holy spring.  The mausoleum was built by the order of Karakhanid rulers in the 12th century. It was rebuilt several times during the 14th-19th centuries. During the Tamerlaneʼs reign the mausoleum was completed.

The current building was constructed during the reign of Temur. Amir Temur decided to maintain what his ancestors had begun and hired the best craftsmen to transform and improve the building. The architects were brought from Khorezm and Shakhrisabz to produce the masterpiece .

This name of mausoleum is related to a legend of the Prophet Job. Once Bukhara suffered from desert winds and residents suffered from a drought. People prayed Allah for a miracle. And the God heeded their requests. At that time the Prophet Job had a trip through Bukhara lands. He struck the ground with his staff and healing water sprang up. The spring saved Bukhara people and they called it Chashma-Ayub, the spring of Holy Ayub. The term "Chashma " means spring.

People still believe that the water from the well is healing and capable of fulfilling wishes .

As you see, the building of a mausoleum stands direktori above the spring and the sacred water from the spring is still abtained in the old way, using a bucket on a rope.

(Here you can see  a grave that exists inner part of this mausoleum )

Also we came across a number of tourists and we tried to make a conversation with them. Here you can see some of them. We are glad to see them in our country❣️😎

Also , this mausoleum added the UNESCO World Heritage list in 18 January , 2008.

This is a photo with my dears!
