7th day - Sadriddin Ayni Museum
SADRIDDIN AYNI MUSEUM
Hello everybody !
Todayʼs blog is about one of the most well-known architectural monuments of Bukhara , Sadriddin Ayni Museum - Cell . I gained some new information about this museum that I havenʼt ever heard , during this trip. Now I am going to share some of them with you🤓
The memorial museum, placed in the Kukeldash madrasa, is devoted to the lives of Sadriddin Ayni (1878-1954) and Jalol Ikromi (1909-1989), the outstanding classical writers of the Uzbek and Tajik literature. It is located near the Labi -Hauz ensemble , in Old Part of Bukhara.
In the beginning of the 20th century, Bukhara was a center of the Jadid movement (Jadid from Arabic means 'new'). This historical movement created many talented writers and poets, including Sadriddin Ayni and Jalol Ikromi. In comparison with the previous literary trends, two scholars' works came to highlight enlightening issues. They advocated secular education and liberation of spiritual sphere. In Ayni's poetic and prosaic legacy, one could see further development of the traditions of both classical and Jadid literature in the Uzbek and Tajik languages.
His works such as "Odina," "The Money-Lender's Death," "The Slaves," "Dakhunda," and "The Memories" are the great achievements of the Uzbek and Tajik literature.
Now I want to give some information about the life path of him.
Sadriddin Ayni was born on April 27 (15), 1878 in the village of Soktari, Gijduvan district, Bukhara emirate (Gijduvan district, Bukhara region of Uzbekistan). He was an outstanding Tajik and Uzbek orientalist . His father, Saidmurodhodja, was a farmer and peasant , however despite being illiterate and poor-educated , he tried to make his children educated and knowledgeable.
He became an orphan at 12 and moved to join his older brother in Bukhara, where he attended a madrasa and learned to write in Arabic. It was very difficult for poor scholars such as Ayni to do and study at Bukhara madrasah. However, because of his enthusiasm and desire for knowledge, he overcame all the difficulties of life and education and studied for 16 years in the madrasah of Bukhara. Ayni studied at the madrasahs of Miri Arab, Olimjon, Badalbek, Khoja Zohid and Kukaldosh and graduated in 1908.
