Labi Havuz & Khoja Nasriddin monument

Hello   my   dears . Today's   blog  is   about  one of  the   most   famous   historical  sites   of Bukhara , Lyabi-Hauz  and  Khoja  Nasriddin monument . We  visited  there  with  our  guides Mushtariy , O驶g驶iloy and Hamrobegim, as  well  as our  teacher  was  with  us. I  want  to thank  all  of   them  for   enjoyable   trip. Let's  I  give some   information   which   I   learnt   during  this guided    tour   about   the   ensemble  of  Labi Havuz  and   statue  of  Khoja  Nasriddin.

The  majestic  Labi-Havuz  ensemble  (translates from  uzbek  "By  the  pond" )  -  one  of  the central  monuments  of  ancient  Bukhara. Kukeldash  madrasah,  Divanbegi  madrasah, and  the  Khanaka  (Sufi abode)  of  the  same name  make  up  the  Central  historic  square. Lyabi-Hauz  was  once  a  trading  post  on  the Silk  road,  which  contributed  to  the  location of  a  shopping  street  next  to  it. Now  there is  a  cafe  that  saves  you  from  the  heat  of a  hot  summer  day  with  cool  water. First there  was  the  Nadir  Divan Begi  madrasah,  which  includes  a  Khanaka,  a  swimming  pool and  a  Carvanserai,  which  was  later  converted  into  another  madrasah.

The  Labi Havuz  survived  because  it  is  the centerpiece  of  a  magnificent  architectural ensemble,  created  during  the  16th  and  17th centuries,  which  has  not  been  significantly changed  since.  The  Labi  Havuz  ensemble, surrounding  the  pool  on  three  sides,  consists of  the  Kukeldash  Madrasah  (1568–1569,  the largest  madrasah in  the  city ),  on  the  north side   of   the  pool,  and  two  religious  edifices  built   by  Nadir  Divanbegi:  a  khanaqah (1620;  Uzbek:  xonaqah,  meaning a lodging  house  for  itinerant  Sufis)  and  a madrasah  (1622),  which  stands on  the  west  and  east  sides  of  the  pool  respectively.  The  small Qazi Kalan   madrasah  (now demolished)  was  formerly  located  beside  the Kukeldash  madrasah.

Also we learnt the history and origin of the statue of Khoja Nasriddin. I realised that each detail and each part of this statue has special meaning.

This monument was made of bronze and installed on a rectangular pedestal .The monument of Khoja Nasriddin in Bukhara was installed in 1979. And also the sculptor of this monument was Yakov Shapiro.

In  fact  , Khoja  Nasriddin  is  a nationwide East Asian hero who combines  the   incompatible - simplicity and wisdom, experience and naviety , traditionalism and originality. His unpredictability and ability to enjoy life have always been and will be close to the people of the East.

The monument depicts Khoja riding on his  donkey , with  whom he rarely separated. On his head , dressed in traditional clothes , Khoja skullcap, on his feet are oriental shoes with curved noses.  A sly smile spread across a kind face  and his  left hand flapped in greeting. Reins are thrown back ,because the donkey still dies not want to go anywhere.

Currently , near the monument there are always a lot of people, especially children . And it is not without reason. There is a belief that if you put a small child on a donkey , his whole life will be filled with joy and fun . 馃憖馃檭

Nowadays,  there is always a big line of tourists near the monument of Khoja Nasriddin. Everyone wants to take picture with this statue.
